$156K Cryptocurrency Kidnapping Plot - Leader of Crime Syndicate Convicted
In a case spanning several states and involving complex schemes to steal cryptocurrency, Remy St. Felix has been convicted for orchestrating a series of brutal home invasions and kidnappings. These incidents occurred between September 2022 and July 2023 in Durham, Florida, Texas, and New York, as per the U.S. Department of Justice.
Durham Incident: A Terrifying Home Invasion One of the most harrowing incidents took place in Durham in April 2023. Two men, disguised as construction workers, gained entry to an elderly couple’s home. Once inside, they brandished guns, bound the 76-year-olds with zip ties, and forced them to transfer over $150,000 in cryptocurrency. This violent encounter left the couple traumatized but fortunately with only minor physical injuries.
Criminal Network Uncovered Court documents revealed that St. Felix was at the helm of a robbery crew targeting cryptocurrency owners through planned home invasions. During the Durham incident, St. Felix was on the phone with an accomplice, Jarod Gabriel Seemungal, who directed the operation. Seemungal’s knowledge of the victim’s financial details suggested prior compromise of their accounts. Despite their attempts to cover their tracks using encrypted communications and anonymous transactions, investigators were able to piece together phone records and other evidence leading to their arrests.
