Is a tiled stove - I'm not sure about the translation. He heats four rooms in the house.

We enjoy it - just not when it's freezing!

How long does that much wood last?

@price when we get our wood we make sure it will last through the winter months. I know we usually have some left over to use for next season. I would say they do the same thing.

Usually we always ordered for a winter. But due to the energy crisis, there is hardly any wood that would be affordable. We were able to get 10 bulk cubic meters at short notice - at twice the price of the previous year - which is still cheap at the moment. So we struck. Now we should have enough wood for two winters.

@metalpack we get our wood the old fashion way we cut it down ourselves. Why we have chainsaws!!! lol

In Germany, you buy the right to cut trees in the forest. It's expensive and you don't know which area will be assigned to you. If you are unlucky, there is no road and you can't drive to it by car.

OR you own a piece of forest - but these forest pieces are more expensive than a house.

For our fireplace we need oak, everything else burns away too quickly. We order the leftover wood from a sawmill, so we also have these sections from the boards. Although this wood is waste for the sawmill, it is getting more and more expensive and so many people order that you get on a waiting list.

Wow so much of a hassle nothing like that here. We mostly get dead trees or trees that have blown over due to the winds and we don't have to pay for permits or any of that @metalpack

We live here in the land of forms and civil servants. LOL If we were to take dead wood out of the forest, it would be a crime. (Theft)

Wow! So let the dead wood build up so when you have a forest fire it will be worse really smart civil servants. @metalpack California was the same and way the forest fires there were awful.

We do not know forest fires here (fortunately). Normally it is always humid enough, only in some summers it is very dry. (Like the last one.) But deadwood is also good for the forest. Many pests do not go to the living trees if there is deadwood.
