No one knows how much gold is mined in China, but it's a lot, and you never see Chinese bullion on the market...

That is what actually puzzles me a lot. Especially that for the last couple of years China was accumulating a lot of grain and other resources (in houndreds of tons).

The more gold they have the better positioned they are to encourage international settlement in the Yuan instead of the dollar.  If they could back the Yuan with gold the dollar would crash the next day.
