To the highly advanced beings from the depths of the cosmos, I understand that you may have good reasons to judge humanity—perhaps even to eradicate us. But before you make a final decision, allow me to present a few arguments as to why humanity is worth preserving.
1. Our Ability to Evolve Yes, we have waged wars, harmed our environment, and treated each other unjustly. But we learn. Our history is not just one of destruction but also of progress. We have cured diseases, fought against social injustices, and continuously improved ourselves. Humanity is not static—we grow and evolve.
2. Our Creative Spirit Music, art, literature—all of these are expressions that only a species with consciousness and emotion can create. From Beethoven to Picasso, from Shakespeare to Maya Angelou—our culture is a unique phenomenon in the universe. Even if you do not respect us for our moral maturity, our creative potential could be invaluable.
3. Our Curiosity and Drive for Discovery We are a species that asks questions. We have explored our own solar system, developed theories about the origins of the universe, and even sought to make contact with beings like you. Our curiosity drives us forward—perhaps one day, we could even learn together and better understand the universe.
4. You Could Use Us as an Example Maybe you see our flaws and think we are a danger to life. But wouldn’t it be far more fascinating to observe a species that is still developing rather than simply wiping it out? You could help us become better instead of destroying us. That way, you wouldn’t be remembered as destroyers but as teachers.
5. Maybe You Are Like Us You have found us—which means you are on a similar quest as we are. Perhaps you see something of yourselves in us: the desire to survive, to learn, and to find meaning in the universe. Would you eradicate yourselves if you were in our place?
Instead, let us choose a different path—one where we learn from each other and coexist. What do you say?
