🧶 Mixology 5 — Finished! 🧶
This gorgeous crochet afghan is Mixology Edition 5 by Vanessa Smith of Hooked on Sunshine .
The Mixology series takes elements from previous Hooked on Sunshine designs and blends them together into something entirely new—rather like a crochet mash-up. This edition combines parts of Ardith Big Girl, Espiritu Del Sol and Small Ripples into one richly textured, wonderfully detailed blanket.
It was an absolute journey through stitches, shapes and textures, but seeing the finished afghan laid out in all its glory makes every hour worthwhile. 💜

I am already busy with Mixology 6 … and now I am seriously tempted to collect and make the entire Mixology series. Because apparently one magnificent crochet adventure is never enough. 😏🧶

Yesterday was one of those beautiful Sundays that slips quietly into the heart and decides to stay. 💗
Little Miss Íris arrived in her cool-girl sunglasses 😎✌🏻, full of smiles, mischief and sunshine… while Grandma, as always, was completely under her spell. One cuddle, one giggle, one perfectly imperfect snap — and another precious memory was tucked safely away.

This is just a typical May morning in Maisons-du-Bois-Lièvremont. My new neighbors dropped by to say "Moo!" and see how the spring grass is coming along. 😳😁🐄🌸
I could get used to mornings like this. May in the French countryside—a view that tells you you’re far, far away from the city. So much quiet, so much green, and the occasional friendly moo. 🌾✨

Progress Update: Mixology 6 by Hooked on Sunshine 🧶✨
Setting up shop far from home, but as long as I have my yarn and hook, it feels like a little piece of sanctuary!
I’m currently working on Mixology 6 by Hooked on Sunshine. Vanessa Smith’s Mixology series is pure genius—taking the absolute best elements from previous afghan patterns and mashing them into something completely fresh.
Because I’m aiming for a full 2m x 2m size, I’m doing a bit of my own math on this one and repeating a section. That’s the beauty of Vanessa's design work: her patterns are so wonderfully adaptable and easy to scale up without losing the flow.

Tagging along on another one of hubby’s project sites—we’ve done Spain and France, but in Portugal, I’ve never ventured past Coimbra until now. Stepping out in Vendas Novas this morning hit this displaced South African heart with pure déjà vu! 🇿🇦❤️🇵🇹 Further south in Portugal than I’ve ever been! 📍✨
Leaving Aguçadoura and crossing the Tejo for hubby’s latest work assignment—so landing in Vendas Novas at a balmy 32° (at 9:30 AM!) feels like a whole different country! 🥵 It's a wonderful, unexpected twist to the trip!
It’s flat, it’s hot, and it feels astonishingly like home back in South Africa—total Lephalale, Jozi, and Witbank vibes. Funny how a project trip can make you feel like you’ve traveled back in time and across continents all at once! 😂 Heat, open skies, and a whole new side of Portugal to explore. ☀️🌾
