Grindr has agreed to pay £26 million to settle a UK group…

Grindr has agreed to pay £26 million to settle a UK group claim alleging it shared highly sensitive user data, including HIV status in some cases, with advertising companies. ⚖️

The claim was brought on behalf of about 12,000 users and concerned alleged privacy-law breaches during a period ending in early 2020. The settlement does not include findings or an admission of liability, and Grindr disputes the allegations.

The reported payment is due in two instalments: £13 million by the end of 2026 and £13 million by the end of March 2027. If divided equally, it would average about £2,167 per claimant.

The case follows earlier privacy enforcement in Norway, where regulators fined Grindr over consent for sharing personal data for behavioural advertising. 🔒 Grindr says it has overhauled its privacy programme since 2020.
