Solo artist - tips on performing with backing tracks
I have an industrial/aggrotech solo project and i’m trying to figure out the best way to perform live.
I figure if i have a synthesizer and a MIDI controller, i can run the signals through the DAW on my laptop. I have a focusrite audio interface, so i could route the synth to one output, the MIDI/VST channel to a second output, then put the other sounds (additional synth tracks, drums, samples) on a stem and send that to a third output.
Basically, on stage i’d be playing two keyboards, one controller, one hardware synth. Inside the DAW, one channel takes in the audio signal, sends it to output 1. Channel two takes the MIDI signal from the controller, controls a VST synth, that goes to output 2. Channel 3 is a stem with everything else on it, goes to output 3.
Would this be the best option, or are there some other pieces of equipment i should consider?
