What do you want a Conservative Rabbi doing at your interfaith wedding?
For context, I'm approaching this from an Orthodox perspective, so there's a lot of background and context I may be missing.
I understand that there's a growing push on the Conservative movement to allow officiating at interfaith weddings, and I'm perhaps a little puzzled. From an Orthodox perspective, a Rabbi isn't a some magician who marries the couple, he's there to supervise that a kosher wedding has taken place. (Kosher is the broader sense, that a process has happened correctly).
For those who support the conservative movement permitting officiating at intermarriage weddings, what do you actually want the Rabbi to do?
Please don't give a response of:
1. Everyone's different - I know that, I'm hoping to learn perspectives
2. Just bashing intermarriages - I'm trying to understand the other side
