Apple has introduced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone. The phone opens to a 7.6-inch screen, has a 5.4-inch outer display and starts at US$1,999. 📱
The Duo is designed to use its larger inner screen for multitasking, including two apps side by side or two windows of the same app. Apple says pre-orders begin October 16 and availability begins October 23.
The launch puts Apple into a market where Samsung, Motorola and Google already sell foldable phones. Associated Press reported that foldables remain less than 5% of the overall smartphone market. 📊
Apple has announced durability features including a multi-component hinge, titanium enclosure and IP68 rating, but long-term independent durability testing and sales data are not yet available. 🔍
