The original Blue Beetle was a guy named Ted Kord. A young genius who created tech weapons, he had a ray gun and flew around in a robotic bug. First appearance Captain Atom #83 1966. I haven’t seen the new movie yet but I hope it does well, I really enjoy the the way DC has evolved the character.
