Autism lasts a lifetime. Can support stay the course?
Just sharing to raise awareness.
For those who have been supporting or working with people with ASD, there is a real cliff that once the person with ASD is over 18, the support weans off. For families, they can really struggle with the challenges of not having a place for the teenagers with ASD to go to. The demand for special needs support always outstrip the supply. It is really hard to create job opportunities for people with different needs, especially those whose behaviour may not be easily be accepted by the general public.
