Found someone’s credit card found them through LinkedIn and got nothing but abuse
Out cycling and I found a persons credit card. It was a very unique name so I googled them. Their LinkedIn came up. Only other person with the same name was in Chicago. 2000 miles away.
I sent them a message saying I’d found their card could I get it back to them…
They reply saying it’s a scam, I’m a scammer, they’re going to report me to my employers etc.
I’d asked for no information from them. I just replied saying I don’t know this scam would work if I have their card. Very confused. I said look in your wallet if your card isn’t there then you clearly lost it. How is it a scam? I’m not asking for a reward or anything.
After another round of abuse I just said I’m going to shred the card.
Can’t help some people maybe? Can someone explain how this could be perceived as a scam?
