I have never understood the appeal. But to be fair, I’ve only read the first 100 something pages of Norwegian Wood (couldn’t get past the rest).
Now don’t get me wrong, I love descriptive writing (the level of descriptiveness in Oscar Wilde books for example is usually the sweet spot for me). But Murakami, I feel, is descriptive for the sake of being descriptive. It’s not like I’m an avid reader either so I may be talking out of my ass lol.
Some insight into how he got so popular in the first place would be nice. Thanks! #entertainment source
