I saw a reel using this in their van and they just laid the subfloor directly on top of it. I know in between the ribs of the van floor it'll have some room to expand but for the most part the weight of the subfloor and everything else on it will just compress it. Meaning it'll provide minimal insulation or noise dampening value because it has to be expanded to provide maximum benefit.

I can't really blame the person who posted the reel though because Van Life Outfitters where they got it advertising says -

\*"Easy to cut and install - loose lay and install your plywood floor on top. No need for time-consuming framing."\*

You could even see in the reel that it clearly wasn't expanded fully before they put the subfloor on top and it clearly won't expand now. This seems like false advertising or at least misleading so just wanted to make a post about it so people doing research would find it. If you want to do floor insulation without framing you have to use xps foam board.

If anyone has actual experience with this stuff feel free to add it but I just see no way for this to be a good option when you just lay subfloor down on top of it. #lifestyle
