With https://whatlicense.org I've built a little, helpful web app that makes it easy for you to pick the right license for your project - and *really* understand them.
5 questions, then you'll have your license recommendation. You can also immediately download the license and create a file header for this license for a selection of programming languages, like this one:
/** * Copyright (C) 2026 Peter Pan * https://mysite.io * [email protected] * * This work is licensed under the MIT License. You are free to use, modify, * and distribute this work, provided that you include the copyright notice * and this permission notice in all copies or substantial portions of the work. * For more information, visit: https://opensource.org/licenses/MIT */
Nothing more, nothing less. No ads, just a helpful tool for people developing software and don't want to keep using "MIT" for every project without fully understanding it. I hope it is helpful to someone.
**Feedback is welcome. And, no, it's not vibe-coded ;)**
