First bike stolen

My first bike was stolen it was a Suzuki gsx 250r (rip my baby) and I loved it. I have two questions going forward;

1. How can I help prevent this from happening in the future?

2. Whats a good but cheap bike I can buy as a replacement? (All recommendations are apriciated) definitely love a single swing arm they look cool asf but I fear that it dosnt exist in the cheap category lol
