Prepare the worst or hope for the best?
Just got a lineman apprenticeship that’ll last 4 years and could be sent throughout 7 different states in the Midwest. Luckily got place only 1.5 hours from home but not sure how long that’ll last so want to get something now to prepare being father away from home. Based on your guys experience, do you guys recommend going full off grid, shower, toilet, solar. Or should I do the basics, electric, sink, bed and portable power bank. Shower at a local gym. I just bought a jackery 3600 plus so I think I’m good on the power side. Not really prepared to do a full bathroom tbh. Would rather do the minimum but don’t want to find myself not doing enough then being uncomfortable. Lots of guys will do hotels but did the math and could spend around 60k through the 4 years staying at a hotel so I think doing a camper van will save me money while being able to go on camping trips.
Like to mention, looking at a 2019 Mercedes sprinter 170” WB. Found one with low miles for around 34k
