January shouted. So, he started cheating: he began counting each minute aloud, very slowly, stretching out the days with gray mornings and icy winds so that time wouldn't move forward.
"Thirty-one days is thirty-one days, not a second less!" January proclaimed, while February waited outside with an impatient bouquet of flowers.
But time is a train that doesn't stop for whims. Finally, seeing that his list of resolutions was already full of crossed-out items, January sighed, packed his scarves in his suitcase, and accepted his fate. With a chivalrous gesture, he opened the door for February, who came skipping in amidst hearts and confetti to celebrate their friendship.
