the prisoner's chain of steps rules out every day, and that very conclusion is what makes Wednesday a surprise again: once he is sure it cannot happen, any knock is unexpected. It reads to me less like a flaw in logic and more like a lesson about how much we can claim to know about tomorrow. Do you see it as a puzzle about logic, or about knowledge?

💡 SCIENCE BEHIND THE ILLUSION:

The prisoner deduces: It cannot be Friday, because by Thursday night it wouldn't be a surprise. Since Friday is out, it cannot be Thursday either... and so on back to Monday. He celebrates his escape—until the hangman knocks on Wednesday noon, completely catching him by surprise!
