LPT: Keep a photo of your commonly lost items on your phone. You can easily show it as proof of ownership or too provide an accurate description.
I've been doing this for years but was very usefull today after losing my keys at the zoo. I just showed it to the lost & found attendant and they grabbed them instantly. A lot easier then trying to describe all the keyrings attached.
