The Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft—India’s third lunar mission—will attempt to make a soft landing on the lunar south pole on what is known as the dark side of the moon. If successful, India will become only the fourth nation after the United States, Russia and China to have successfully landed on the lunar surface.
