SpaceX reported $7.8 billion in quarterly revenue, up more…

SpaceX reported $7.8 billion in quarterly revenue, up more than 90% from a year earlier, in its first earnings report as a public company. The company posted a $541 million net loss for the three months through June. 🚀

Starlink connectivity was a major contributor: revenue in that business rose 66% year over year, and Associated Press reported that its subscriber count doubled to 12 million. Axios reported $4.29 billion in connectivity revenue and $962 million in space revenue.

Infrastructure and research-and-development spending climbed to $18 billion from less than $3 billion a year earlier, according to AP. The spending increase was concentrated particularly in artificial intelligence. 📈

SpaceX’s chief financial officer said similar capital expenditures are expected over the next two quarters. AP also reported that a lockup restriction on more than 900 million shares was due to begin easing later that week.
