ART OF THE DOG ๐ถ๐ท
The White Sigh Over Fire
In the center of the composition, a red flower โ a zinnia, fiery, with petals open like a velvet crown โ delicately holds its visitor. It is not just any flower: it is pure color, it is life that shouts. Its red is so intense it looks like it was painted with fresh pigment, still wet.
Upon it, almost as if it did not belong to this world, rests a white butterfly. Its wings, of parchment white, worn by time, with gray veins like pencil lines. It is not flying, it is surrendered. Folded, vulnerable, in full communion. The contrast is brutal and beautiful: the ethereal against the carnal, lightness against gravity.
Around it, the dark jungle. A background of deep green leaves, blurred, in shadow, acting as the curtain of a baroque theater. That darkness is not emptiness, it is mystery. It makes the red and white stand out as if they had their own light, like a Caravaggio still life found in your garden in Xalapa.
The work speaks of the ephemeral. Of how the most fragile beauty needs the most intense to exist. It is an instant that lasts a second and that you managed to make eternal. It is not just nature, it is a metaphor for desire: the soft touch of two worlds that meet and do not harm each other.
