"Niger"
At first the word "Niger" in dictionaries was translated as "Slave". Then since the 80s the translation changed to "Negro", why?
Because in those years John Lennon's song entitled "Women is the Niger of the World" was becoming hits and worldwide. The song is an outlet for John's concern at the rise of "female slavery".
But it turns out that John also reaped protests because the lyrics of his songs were objectionable to some circles. Tap John remains at his stance, does not revise his songs.
What changed was the publisher of the dictionary, since then the word "Niger" was translated with the meaning "Negro". And John also contributed to the Nigerian Nation, because the Nigerian nation was no longer associated as a "nation of slaves".
