I don’t know how I’m doing it. I spend an obscene amount a month on groceries for one person. I’ve given myself a generous budget of $500 and usually overshoot it (I do live in a VHCOL area but still.)
I don’t buy junk food or meat. I only eat like 1500 cals a day. So I shouldn’t be this expensive to feed.
I occasionally buy expensive diet things and a few things at Whole Foods since it’s the closest grocery to me (ETA: I mean like one or two items. My usual store is a super budget local grocery mixed with Trader Joes) I know it’s expensive but still shouldn’t add that much.
I do have a problem of not being able to finish things before they go bad and sometimes having to throw food out. For this reason I tend to stick to buying the same ingredients and making the same few meals that use the same ingredients. But maybe I need to get more budget friendly meals in the rotation, especially ones made out of shelf stable foods.
