After almost two years of waiting, FN#66629 Enclosed Striker, New Style is back in stock at distributors.
Why would you care? Before that striker (gen 3?) was put into production, early FN 509s suffered from World’s-Worst-Striker-Fired-Trigger-Syndrome, could not withstand much dry fire without breaking the striker and could not shoot immediately after being submerged.
Guns produced with the new striker no longer suffer from WWSFTS, can stand up to dry fire, and can fire after submersion (supposedly, I haven’t tried this).
You too can get rid of your damn-near-two-fingers-required-shop-tool-trigger-pull. No need to damage frames installing aftermarket triggers, or grind/file/polish critical dimension items throughout jeopardizing your reproductive future when you appendix carry. #weapons
