A tiled stove is a solid-fired (typically wood-fired) large-sized heat-storing mass stove, the outer casing of which is made of handmade or pressed stove tiles.
A heating device with a specifically intermittent operation. After the loaded firewood has burned (which takes approximately \(1{.}5-3\) hours), the fireclay bricks and tile covering inside the stove absorb the heat. It can radiate this heat back into its surroundings evenly, for up to \(12-24\) hours.
Thanks to the complex internal flue system, the flue gases travel a longer distance inside the stove, so most of the heat remains in the apartment, rather than escaping through the chimney.
