Dwelling in Western Europe
Back in my home country, wild camping is officially illegal but socially accepted as long as you respect your surroundings, leave no trace, no loud music etc.
I currently live in the Netherlands, and the concept of not paying for a campsite with amenities and a thousand other visitors is not something the Dutch mind can comprehend.
My wife and I are just finishing up our conversion, and would like to find a nice and quiet spot, preferably by a river or lake where we would be able to swim and go fishing, and wind down at the end of a day by a cozy campfire for a week or so.
Other than driving all the way to the eastern Europe / Norway, what would be your best go-to country for this kind of vacation?
