When temperatures soar in Australia, something wild happens in nature: the nectar in certain flowers can ferment, turning into a natural form of alcohol. Bees that feed on this boozy nectar end up getting a little buzzed—literally. These tipsy bees start to wobble and stumble as they try to make their way back to the hive.
And the guard bees do exist and help protect the hive, they don’t act exactly like "nightclub bouncers"—but they do challenge and sometimes reject returning bees that act suspiciously.
