Titanic search team hears underwater boom every 30 minutes
Rescuers searching for Titan, the missing Titanic tourist submarine, heard sounds underwater on Wednesday (21/6/2023). They are using sonar to search for the five-passenger ship, which has been missing in the North Atlantic since Sunday (18/6/2023). "Canadian P-3 aircraft detected underwater sounds in the search area. Therefore, ROV (remotely operated vehicle) operations were moved in an attempt to locate the origin of the sound," the US Coast Guard First District said on its official Twitter page. The ROV search was negative but continues, they added, adding that data from the Canadian aircraft has been handed over to US Navy experts to inform further search plans. Quoted from the AFP news agency, this latest news is the most significant in the search for Titan, a 6.5-meter submarine to visit the wreck of the Titanic.
