Society is evil and nobody dares question it because we are born in a systemic hell. In regards to employment, university degrees, and fields such as CS. Mostly social criticism about work expectations. Bit of a philosophical/spiritual rant about life..
Shit 😆 All these ppl with MSc unemployed... (all MSc and Ph.Ds at my uni were only doing them because they couldn't find a job/internship after their BSc 😆) that would have been unheard of 10-20 years ago. AI and the market really took the toll.... Before I continue I want to address that yes- every career and every field and every degree is fucked to the max, and everybody suffering not just CS. Finance, engineering, med, law, whatnot -- all facing similar constraints. But careers are not the issue- it's the society that we have no control over that is thriving on people's suffering and desperation.
People in my first year classes already had githubs with 500+ commits and firmware updaters and whatnot... LMAO such a shitty degree and outcome considering the bare difficulty of it and how much effort and studying it requires. Fuck the corporate work environment. Even if you get out of the hell of unemployment or internships, have fun working 60 hrs a week for min wage doing the work that would have been done by 4 senior engineers 15 years ago.
If you think AI did not / will not replace literally ALL junior-mid level roles- you're delusional.
It's already happened, matter of fact. The leetcode grind and portfolios and whatnot is just straight up disrespect to the degree holders. And for people arguing that if AI takes over CS jobs, it will take over most other jobs, yeah no. AI is specifically targetting and majorly affecting tech and CS jobs in particular, due to it's development and nature in programming. For many years has entry level web development and program design died out due to automation.
But I don't for one second doubt that in the near future it will literally take over most things, cause a fucking crisis and borderline extinction wipeout of the working class population.
And as far as businesses are concerned, all they care about is money and cutting costs- AI will cut costs by removing salaries and being a 24/7 workhorse that doesn't need to sleep, eat or rest. That can debug and work better than most graduates. And it's only getting better.
It's heartbreaking how we live in a world where people's net worth's in the hundreds of millions or billions are discussed so casually- like nothing is wrong with that - there is no worse crime or evil.. the amount of people suffering with accommodation, food, necessities and doing their ALL to get by minimally, while these demonic 80yo senile men possess the wealth of the world.
This field, and so many others will lose so many talented individuals and engineers. And academia is an even bigger hell than corporate. Thank capitalism for our living and employment situations, modern-day slavery is real and nobody even questions it.
Goodluck to you all, I can assure myself with 100% certainty that I would not have been able to find a job if I continued. And I respect myself, I'm not gonna slave away on leetcode and burn my life away trying to prove my worth for an entry level job. Got life to live.
Literal rat race society. University used to be the best path to success, and now it's the bare minimum to even get considered for an interview for a minimum wage entry level job. Seems like there is no option anymore.. have to accept exhausting soul-breaking work that takes literally 50% of your life away. 100% suffering the torture of modern-day employment (slaves worked less hard 2000 years ago) ; the literal disease that is the internet and technology, took away the respect and individuality of many.. built a society of comparison and worth based on the individual's determination to sacrifice their life and self-respect.
Lemme just phrase something real important- it's not the internet that is the problem-
The core issue is the society and government and businesses who feed on people's soul and suffering and force it through the internet with no way around it- what is considered normal isn't- everything being a subscription, for-profit, designed to take something out of you, being forced to watch Ads every 2 fucking minutes, having all your personal data collected and sold to advertisers, to others, to companies... Everything is making a fucking profit out of the average consumer. But the word consumer is an issue in itself, we are not "consumers" we are middle class people who follow trends that we need to survive. Wanting basic entertainment, satisfaction, shopping for necessities, is not being a consumer. And so many take pride in overworking themselves to extreme measures like it's a good thing, feeding into this disease of a mindset- especially with new influencers and "coaches" and whatnot..
I see so many young people and teenagers being completely convinced that forcing themselves to work 14 hours a day, for themselves or somebody else (particularly those self-help gurus) is something positive 😆 This is a funny example, but take Clavicular for example, a product of the internet and modern values. This philosophy channel made a reference of him to Nietzsche's philosophy.. and it honestly shines right thru-- When individuals fail to believe in something bigger than themselves, the direction turns inward. The self becomes a project, something to be mastered/improved, rather than experienced and accepted. It's a consequence of these "perfect sets of values" imposed by social media and society, and in the context of workplaces, the perfect values a graduate or employee must possess to fit in and have a chance. That alone is guaranteed stress in ways I don't have to explain. And the self-doubt and depression stems from there for many, due to comparison or failure.
Society built a population that uses suffering as a positive metric... The new generations and Gen Z are genuine victims- victims of the older generations taking absolute advantage of their political power and control to create a generation of brainwashed deluded work slaves. I hope they all genuinely rot in hell. Having experienced a near-death-experience, and a life-shattering DMT breakthrough, I am more than certain that life and us as people is something extremely valuable.. and these people that are responsible for the absolute HELL that we live in, will pay the price in the eyes of god. It brings so much comfort to my soul. We, our spirits, are not to be devalued as slaves, and hold a lot of importance and dignity, that is stripped away by modern-day society, leaders, and employment that seems non-avoidable that is the prime focus of literally everybody's childhood and life.
Enjoy your life, your life is more than proving yourself to a fucking 70IQ sheep of a hiring manager with an HR associates degree, who is himself part of the disease causing many to literally end their lives. Get fucked lol. Living in this world makes me wanna throw up lowkey.
Embrace a spiritual journey of self-respect and importance, this grey fucking corporate world is not a good life or anything positive to look forward to. And I see the people that "made it" - the successful financial analysts, portfolio managers, design managers, in their 40s and 50s, retired with millions, but dead inside, and definitely not happy. The cost was their dignity and soul. And the consequence is self-delusion and denial regarding what you know was torment, but was the standard "route" of success modeled by society. source
