Was contacting the Department of Labor the right move?
Here's the jist: my employers check bounced.
Not just for me, all employees. We deposited friday and by monday at 7pm, the funds were withdrawn from our accounts.
We tried contacting upper management, but were left without any memo or conversation. Before this happened I was already heated because my pay was incorrect.
Due to not hearing anything back, and fearing the worst, I filed a claim with the DoL.
It wasnt until the offices closed that we received news that we had new checks available to pick up.
I'm now wondering if filing this was the correct course of action. I will likely get repercussions, which I know is not legal, but with how they reacted to my email when they did respond wouldn't leave me shocked.
Should I cancel the claim, or follow through? I'm second guessing here and would appreciate another person's view.
Side note: apparently this is not the first time it has happened. source
