The thing that separates amateurs from professionals is cropping
Composition, to me, is by far the most important aspect of capturing photos/videos. By extension, I've realized that the best photographers heavily utilize cropping.
If you want to become a really good photographer, I'd suggest you get very comfortable cropping your photos. The key is to be able to get a sense of what helps tell the story of your photo and what distracts from it.
Rarely do you need the entire subject captured for your point to come across. Really focus on what you want viewers to notice and what YOU find significant about what you capture.
The best part about cropping in post is that you can actually experiment and find interesting composition that you probably wouldn't have been able to focus on with your naked eye.
What do you guys think? Do you agree or disagree, and if you disagree, what would you say is the most important editing tool? #hobby
