**Game description:** If hit by a Water-type move, the Pokémon has its Defense raised by 1 stage instead of taking damage.
**Rationale:** This ability goes on an ice type that is so cold, water instantly freezes on contact. The frozen water fortifies the Pokemon's hard outer layer.
Gameplay-wise, ice is not known for being a defensive type. However, Pokemon like Avalugg exist, and in recent games snow raises defense by 50%. An immunity to one of the most prominent types (water) could go a long way to give an ice type some footing.
