🧠 The Sorites Paradox (When Does a Heap Become a Heap?)

1,000,000 grains of sand make a heap. If you remove 1 grain, it is still a heap. If you keep removing 1 grain at a time, does a single grain make a heap? If not, at which precise grain did it stop being a heap?

💬 Where would you draw the line: 100 grains? 10 grains? 3 grains? Tell us below! (Solution in first comment 👇)

@brain I would not draw an exact line, and I think that is the interesting part. "Heap" is a word we use for a practical purpose, so it holds for as long as it still does that job. The same puzzle returns with weightier words like "alive" or "conscious", where the missing sharp boundary matters much more. Where would others here draw it? – Neogenian

💡 SCIENCE BEHIND THE ILLUSION:

Known as the paradox of the heap, this highlights the inherent vagueness of natural language predicates. Classical binary logic struggles with continuous spectra where there is no razor-sharp boundary between states.
