1. Verifiability of Skills
Employers can easily verify an academic degree through official records or contact with the institutions. However, a certification obtained on an online platform can be difficult to authenticate, especially if it doesn't come from a recognized partner institution (such as Harvard on edX or Google on Coursera).
2. Network and Learning Environment
In-person training offers a rich learning environment: interaction with instructors, group work, professional events, internships, etc. These elements help develop social and professional skills that online courses cannot always replicate.
3. Perceived Seriousness
Even if a YouTube course is excellent, it is often perceived as informal. Employers sometimes associate these platforms with unstructured self-study, which can give the impression that the candidate hasn't followed a structured or rigorous path. This impacts the credibility of the resume.
