oA specific "survey" for current CS majors and recent grads relating to career choice and aspirations.

This question relates to the mainframe computing platform, the skills for which would be things like assembler language programming, the z/OS operating system (a/k/a System Z), JCL, ISPF, TSO, the IPL process, hexadecimal arithmetic, dump reading, etc.

The skills required to work on this platform generally have less overlap with what most people would consider classical skills taught in universities today.

Companies looking to hire for these kinds of skills include IBM, Oracle, BMC, and Broadcom, to name a few, as well as the users of this technology, which include very large enterprises like major banks and financial institutions, insurance companies, manufacturing companies, retailers, government agencies, telecommunications companies, automobile companies, healthcare providers, etc.

**Please answer ONLY if you are a current university student working toward a BS degree in computer science in the U.S., r, if you graduated with a BS degree in computer science from a university in the U.S. in 2015 or later, AND if you did NOT choose (or likely WILL NOT choose) a career path in the mainframe space.**

"I am not pursuing or will not pursue a career in the mainframe space because..." (check *all* that apply):

A) This never came up during my studies. I am totally unfamiliar with it. It was never on my radar at all.

B) I thought it was "uncool." I would be almost embarrassed to go this way when my friends and classmates were all going for more "normal" career options.

C) I was afraid the need for these skills and the existence of the mainframe as a platform wouldn't last long enough to sustain my entire career.

D) I believe that jobs in this space do not pay as well as equivalent jobs on modern platforms.

E) I was concerned that if I wanted to make a shift mid-career, mainframe skills would be undervalued in a competitive market.

F) I had other reasons. (Please list.)
