I don't always love how the Internet has changed generations after mine (I'm a slightly aging Gen X), but sometimes I do like how it's been able to show so much of the world to people. Particularly in music. In my day, you were somewhat judged by what you listened to, and your reputation revolved around your music style (pop, rap, metal etc.). Today's kids are all over the place, and it's fantastic.
My 19-year old has a playlist like: Queen, Metallica, Fall Out Boy, Michael Jackson, AC/DC, Abba, Rammstein and a lot of video game background instrumentals. Anything goes. They have shown me some seriously awesome music I'd never heard of, like Powerwolf, which I think is some kind of Swedish Viking metal. I love it!
Maybe the next generation will be ok.
