So, i recently noticed that me, zooming in to enjoy my photos is considered pixel peeping. Its not just to determine the sharpness of my photos, but because I genuinely enjoy the ability to see the details of my images, without everything immediately falling apart \*cough cough\* my Iphone 13 pro \*cough cough\* .
I like landscapes and other photos that typically have more than one subject of interest in them, and generally, its so nice to be able to zoom in a bit and see more than just the whole composition. Its like a second enjoyment aside from viewing the whole image. It feels a bit like viewing through portions of a large print on your tablet/phone.
Higher MP does allow for a better crop too. Heck, my “pixel peeping” is one of the reasons why I felt my phone was hugely inadequate for taking images with. Now i got a 30,3MP camera, and I’m quite satisfied with it, but whats up with the disdain towards pixel peeping? Is it really that bad, or have I just misunderstood it?
So, what are your experiences with pixel peeping? I honestly thought it was normal to zoom in and enjoy the details of your images. 🤷♂️ or maybe im just weird. source
