I built a free site with van insurance comparisons, van registration guidelines, and a builder directory — looking for feedback
I've converted a handful of vans and hadn't looked into the registration or insurance side of things that much. I started doing some research, and found what I needed, but saw an opportunity to start compiling resources for the before and after aspects of van conversions. I used some new tools and did a lot of data scraping, and I put together this website: thevanguide.com http://thevanguide.com
The site has 3 main sections right now:
**Builder directory:** I found 250+ van conversion shops in the US. I put together some filters based on build-tier, location, custom vs standardized, etc.
**Insurance guides:** I put together some analysis of current van insurance policies by carries and created a "Find Insurance" tool based on their criteria. I talk about what the cover, what they require, and what they don't require.
**State registration guides:** I'm deep-diving into registration regulations for all 50 states (they haven't all gotten published yet.
I don't have any ads or affiliate links yet. I would love to know if this is useful to the van life community.
I'm also really curious if there are other areas of the van conversion decision process or the post-conversion ownership process where people feel like there's a lack of info.
I would genuinely appreciate feedback, so please let me know what you think.
If you know a builder that should be listed, I can add them. Happy to answer questions about any of the insurance or registration research. #lifestyle
