My old school [in the UK] had a flourishing Music Department which encouraged all students to learn an instrument. Classical music was introduced, taught and played.
During our late teens, a contemporary, who was an accomplished acoustic guitarist and liked rock 'n' roll, formed a Beatles tribute band. As one music master said "he's the sort of student we like." 44 years on, he still plays acoustic and electric guitars and has a band. What might have been the outcome had he attended a different school?
