When can we become wise?
It is never too early or too late to begin the pursuit of wisdom. Children can be introduced to timeless truths just as easily as an adult in their sixties can pick up a book that shifts their perspective. The only requirement is life itself. If you are still breathing, you can still learn, grow, and become more present.
Wisdom is not something that falls into your lap. It is not a gift you wait for. It is a practice you earn. It requires showing up daily with humility, curiosity, and discipline. Whether you are young and just starting to ask questions, or older with years of experience behind you, the principle remains the same. True growth comes from the willingness to keep learning how to live.
Life is full of decisions, challenges, and people who will test you. Every moment asks something of you such as patience, courage, honesty, and compassion. In those moments, the wisdom you have practiced will either be present to guide you, or it will not. There is no shortcut. You cannot borrow wisdom in the heat of the moment. You must have already sown those seeds through study, reflection, practice, and action. That is why learned always requires earned.
This is why I teach that wisdom, like presence, is a choice we must recommit to every single day. You do not control what life throws at you, but you do influence how prepared you are to meet it. Wisdom is preparation. It is the muscle you train so that when life calls on you, you can stand strong.
No matter your age, no matter your past, you can start right now. Ask better questions. Reflect deeply. Practice presence. Show up. Wisdom will meet you wherever you are if you are willing to do the work.
