Think twice before you risk your life (or make any sacrifice) in the name of #patriotism.
The 4th of July celebrates the United States' independence from England. 25,000 young Americans died gruesome deaths for independence. One of the main reasons was taxation. At the time, the tax rate imposed on Americans was 1.5 percent. Americans eventually imposed a 40 percent tax rate on themselves.
Canada, Australia and Singapore were also British colonies. As colonists, their lifestyle wasn't much different than independent Americans. They all gained their own independence peacefully in modern times.

Yes, patriotism should go hand in hand with common sence. I think we should not lose lives because of any course, mediation and dialogues should be the way to go.

Honestly we need a clean slate I am really saddened by the state the USA is in. The corruption I see makes me sick.

If King George the Third actually tried to work with the Colonists, The British Empire would've been vastly more powerful, and who knows how the rest would've unfolded. But, of course, he didn't. And, even threatened them.
No taxation without representation. Seems reasonable to me.
We now have our Constitution because of those men. A lot of these men, and their families, were tutored and killed by the King's orders. He was a tyrannical King.

I get your point. But, it wasn't always like that. In the past several decades, we've allowed power to shape us into this. That's what power does. It's the nature of power. That's why it always needs to be kept in check. We're currently back in this tyrannical and corrupt/rotten state.

Yeah, the empire, the colonies and the independents all arrived at the same destination. That’s why I question the sacrifice.

"They all gained their own independence peacefully" tbh that is more a sign of the decline of the might of the british empire and the mercantilism that remained in force in their colonies.

Fair enough, but whatever the reason was, I wouldn’t want to have a leg blown off to achieve whatever lifestyle difference existed between America and Canada while they were still a colony.
