A,paI think there's no coming back for West Africa
Just as the title says. Everything that's been happening in W.A. is to their own & North Africa's detriment. I think the Sahel countries are beyond redemption.
1. Mali: Here we have a country that is literally a jihadi playground with a brain dead military that thinks coup after coup will solve anything. First coup claimed that security deterioration was the reason for ejecting the civilians then the 2nd coup ejected their brain dead brethren & justified it with the same security stuff. Now they called in Wagner dogs not to help in their security situation but to settle political scores with mostly "separatists". I put separatists in quotations cause some of them pledge their allegiance to ISIS and Al Qaeda retards (this doesn't diminish their plight & concerns). This country has had since 2012 to build and all inclusive state where the moderate "separatists" felt included in the resource sharing but that didn't happen & to also adhere to the 2015 Algiers Peace Agreement. Now you have the "separatists" breaking agreements and launching attacks this coupled with ISIS mad men attacking the army too. Double trouble for Assimi Goita. Plus he's putting off elections. Man is drawing his legitimacy from the barrel or a gun. Good luck. Coup begets a Coup.
2. Niger: Here we have a country I somewhat agree with Tchiani's concerns. He may have staged a coup to stop himself from being fired but he's really played the French occupation & exploitation card really well. This country got independence in 1960 and joined ECOWAS in 1975. Since 1975 there has literally been no economic advancement despite having only one country extract and use its Uranium. I'm from Swahili East Africa so idk much about the deals signed but what I don't understand is why ECOWAS has never voiced its concerns about these seemingly bad contracts.
3. Burkina Faso: Here we have a Thomas Sankara wannabe & unlike Sankara he has jihadis crawling all over. Man controls only the capital. His own boys just tested him like yesterday. Again idk much about its economy but jihadis will exploit lack of government services and stability.
4. Sudan: Not in W.A but it requires an honourable mention. This dick measuring contest is going to balkanize the country. You have terrorist dogs running a mock in the capital and an army that has set up a de facto new capital in port Sudan. Khartoum is a wasteland, I don't even know how you restart such a reconstruction effort. If things go worse than now (things now are worse) Darfur goes on its own, me thinks. Blue Nile states looks shaky as well. Good luck.
Now the Sahel has always (to my knowledge) been a strip of Sufism but with the bombing of Libya in 2011 this release Salafis/Wahabis to the Sahara. These salafis were able to get a hold of Libya's arms cache (which were significant) together with french supplies or arms (for those who will doubt https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-13955751) nd now spread them and their ideology all over the Sahara. I honestly don't know how these countries will ever recover. What this means is that North African countries are about to enjoy some of that jihadi gospel as well and a lot of migrants fleeing. Good luck (especially Algeria, cause Libya isn't functioning). I see Libya balkanizing as well, a dick warlord thinks he's loved.
ECOWAS is a retarded organisation. They've failed to address the economic issues of places like Niger (how can you produce uranium that goes not to the market but to a predetermined customer and still languish in poverty). The elections of Bazoum was marred with irregularities of which ECOWAS did not address. Should there be a coup in Senegal is ECOWAS going to start calling for a restoration of constitutional order? . ECOWAS has failed in everything it is meant to do for West African states but now wants to put an ultimatum & sanctions which will only impoverish people and they'll be enticed by jihadis. At least jihadis give them stable jobs. Many juntas have called your bluff just dissolve, you are useless.
tl;dr : Even God can't help Sahel countries. Jihadis will continue on the rise. Some countries might balkanize in 5 years. ECOWAS is a shit org that needs to be disbanded. Migrants will flood North. Good Luck
