Using pmw controller instead of mppt for small solar setup?
I cheapest out and bought a pmw solar controller instead of a mppt. The pmw has adjustable voltage control so I can set it right to 12.8v. Am I going to run into issues charging a 50ah 12.8v lithium iron phosphate battery with internal BMS? Solar panel is a single renology 115w bi-facial, with an optimal operating voltage of 18.8v @ 6amps. The charge controller manual says that I shouldn't use it with lithium batteries, but I can't find any solid reasoning online why it shouldn't work (aside from efficiency loss). Who here has a similar small setup that has been this route? Should I sell the pmw and get a high quality mppt controller for my panel? #lifestyle source
