What was there before all the strip malls?
Los Angeles has an absolute ubiquity of strip malls all over the city. Strip malls coming from the suburbs were everywhere. Though in that context a development pattern that seems so late 20 century is just kind of expected. But they are everywhere even in dense corridors throughout the city.
While they are now home to some of the best stuff our city has to offer, it really seems like there had to have been something else there in the past. When these were being built what was being removed?
