How to appreciate books better?
Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to reading and need some help, thought this is the right place to come. How can I engage with a text better? I always find that after reading a book, even if I understand what it was trying to say, or if I enjoyed the story, I feel like I'm missing something or haven't gotten the full experience, that I'm not appreciating it enough or dont have the background information to.
What are some things I can do during, before, or after reading a book to get the most out of it? Anything I should be looking for? Or writing down, like a writing exercise or notes or something? What kind of context about the book or writer would help me appreciate it better? Or just anything that would help me get more than a surface level understanding of the book. Thanks in advance.
