Activity link: https://tangled.com/c/b8ad3bae3f5412dd561f2e3f749eb996e73d32f25

First, a little confession about where this scenario came from. πŸ˜‚

I got the idea while rewatching Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, the Kevin Costner one. My brain wandering into Robin Hood childhood like β€œOkay, but what would you do if...?” situations, and somehow it turned into this thinking activity. Haha.

And yes, this will be my last thinking activity for a while. I'm taking some time off from Tangled.

Thank you everyone who took the time to Read, Think, and Comment. ❀️

I distributed the 3M mlx according to the depth of reasoning, how well the comment addressed the dilemma, and how many sides of the situation were considered.

πŸ† β€” 250,000 mlx

I appreciate the point about emotions influencing our decisions and the reminder that grief needs to be acknowledged and managed rather than allowed to control us. However, the comment focuses more on whether the father should have entered another relationship while grieving, rather than what he should do now that a pregnancy and another child are involved.

πŸ† β€” 350,000 mlx

I liked that this comment recognized the missing details in the scenario and didn't immediately assume there was only one possible answer. The questions about the timing of the relationship, the grieving process, and the son's emotional state show good critical thinking. However, leaving the pregnant woman until the son is older doesn't fully resolve the father's responsibility toward his unborn child.

πŸ† β€” 400,000 mlx

A very balanced response. It protects the son's need to grieve without making his grief the deciding factor in the father's entire future. I also appreciate the suggestion of getting help for the child's grief and teaching him that moving forward does not mean forgetting his mother.

πŸ† β€” 450,000 mlx

This comment considered almost everyone involved: the grieving son, the father, the pregnant woman, the unborn child, and even the memory of the deceased wife. I especially liked the idea that the father should not feel forced to choose between his grieving son and his new family. The reasoning is compassionate without ignoring responsibility.

πŸ† β€” 200,000 mlx

The strongest point here is recognizing that the father has responsibilities toward both children. The 12-year-old needs emotional support, while the unborn child also needs a father. The comment is straightforward and reaches an important conclusion, although it doesn't explore the possible ways of balancing those responsibilities in much detail.

πŸ† β€” 300,000 mlx

I appreciate that this comment recognized both the father's possible mistake in moving too quickly and his continuing responsibility toward the pregnant woman and unborn child. It also tried to find a way for everyone to receive support. However, I don't agree with secretly continuing the relationship after telling the son otherwise. That could create an even bigger problem later because trust and honesty also matter in a family.

πŸ† β€” 300,000 mlx

This is a clear and balanced judgment. The comment understands that the son's grief deserves patience but should not control the father's entire future. It also correctly points out that loving someone new does not automatically mean disrespecting or replacing the deceased wife. I would have liked a little more discussion of the pregnant woman and unborn child, but the central reasoning is sound.

πŸ† β€” 350,000 mlx

I appreciate the clear judgment and the recognition that a 12-year-old may not yet have the emotional maturity to understand his father's decision. The comment also correctly sees that the father should explain the situation rather than simply abandon his new family. Some of the reasoning about the new family automatically making the son's life better is more speculative, though, so I took that into consideration.

πŸ† β€” 400,000 mlx

This comment clearly separates the son's grief from the father's responsibility. I especially appreciate the recognition that the unborn child is innocent and should not lose a father because of the situation. The suggestion to stay, communicate, reassure the son, and take responsibility for the new child gives a practical way forward instead of simply choosing one person over another.

πŸ† β€” 300,000 mlx

This comment shows good awareness of how complicated grief can be for a 12-year-old and considers the timing of introducing a new relationship and pregnancy. It also recognizes the father's responsibility toward the unborn child. However, I don't fully agree with keeping the relationship and pregnancy hidden as a solution. Protecting a grieving child is understandable, but building the situation around secrecy could cause greater problems later.

πŸ’° TOTAL DISTRIBUTED: 3,000,000 mlx

There wasn't one β€œperfect” answer here. That's actually what I wanted from this activity. Some of you focused on grief, some on responsibility, some on the unborn child, and some on the consequences of the father's choices.

And with that, my thinking activities are officially taking a little break indefinitely. πŸ˜‚
