Why does Arabic sound so formal on TV and the opposite on the internet?
I am not an Arab but I do watch Arab series (pirated, I don't use Shahid or MBC or beIN). I've noticed that the arabic spoken in Instagram and social media like YouTube is Very different from TV. Why is that?
Why does every character in Arabic tv sound like the audio version of a textbook or someone from customer service? I noticed this when watching Arabic dubs (which seems to be voiced by the same cast and studio, I've heard the same voice in atleast 13 different series).
What's going on? Arabic has millions of speakers and dialects yet why is Arabic tv so jarring to listen to? I can tolerate the news and documentaries but why is there none in dubbings or series? A lot of series is dubbed from their native dialect to standard formal Arabic for some reason. #current_events
