Techniques for making stronger documentary/photojournalism photographs on the fly?
I'm a photography student with a growing interest in documentary/photojournalism, other than workshops that happen anually, like Mountain Workshop, I'm finding I'm having to sort of teach myself about PJ/Doc technique and I'm looking for practical advice from photographers with more experience in this area of photo. I shoot with a Cannon 5d Mark IV, 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8 as my main lenses.
I'm especially interested in learning more about things like:
* evaluating a scene quickly * anticipating moments * composing under pressure * Using available/Light Protecting highlights on the fly in situations where you're documenting a scene that's unfolding in multiple directions * simplifying busy frames * deciding when to wait vs. move on
I often feel like I'm experimenting while shooting instead of working from a repeatable process. What techniques, habits, or mental checklists made the biggest difference in your work? #hobby source
